There seems to be a “national day” to celebrate something every day! Some people celebrate National Donut Day, National Middle Child Day, and National Vinyl Record Day. But did you know the third Sunday of October is the Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day? I’m all about eating a donut and listening to an old Amy Grant vinyl record, but celebrating Sunday school teachers is one of our favorites. So, mark your calendars and start preparing for the third Sunday of October! Here are three simple ideas to help you honor your Sunday school teachers this year.
3 Low-Cost Ways To Appreciate Your Sunday School Teachers
Celebrating Sunday School Teachers Day does not have to be expensive. Even the smallest token gifts show appreciation for teachers. It’s not about how much you spend; it’s truly the thought that counts.
Create A Themed Gift Basket
Visit a discount store for inexpensive baskets and gift ideas. One idea perfect for any teacher is Propel flavored water packets with a note that says, “Thanks for propelling me forward in my spiritual walk.”
Or fill a gift basket with a variety of food snacks that contain nuts. Then, add a note that says, “We are nuts about you! Thank you for being our Sunday school teacher!”

Host A Card Party For Your Teachers
Encourage each student to write a thank you card to their teachers. If it’s a children’s class, ask some volunteers to reach out to the parents of the children in Sunday school. For greater participation, provide the cards. Children can draw pictures for their teachers. Be sure to get the cards a week in advance and bundle the cards together with a pretty ribbon.
Then, on Sunday School Teacher Day, ask a student to present the card bundle to the teacher. Finally, be sure to ask your church’s pastor and leaders to write a handwritten note to each of your teachers. Their acknowledgment can go a long way!

Acknowledge Your Teachers In Your Worship Service
