5 Outreach Events To Women & Moms
1. Free Car Wash For Moms
Plan with your youth group to offer a car wash on the Saturday after Mother’s Day. Pass out Free Car Wash Gift Certificates to your women on Mother’s Day. (This can double as a youth group fundraiser. Ask for donations from anyone who doesn’t present a gift certificate.)
2. Make & Deliver Flowers Before Mother’s Day
Organize a flower-arranging event the week before Mother’s Day. Work with a local florist for fresh flowers, or create paper or tissue paper flower arrangements. Deliver bouquets and arrangements to shut-ins or older women in your church. Turn this In-Reach event into an Outreach event by making and delivering flower bouquets and arrangements to female residents in a local care facility.
3. Celebrate May With Free Oil Changes
Contact a local mechanic to offer free oil changes to widows or single women in your church community. (Ask if the mechanic can donate the labor and offer, as a church, to cover the price of the oil.)

Put together boxes or gift bags of small gifts and goodies and distribute them to women you see in your community who may need an act of kindness.
5. Collect Baby Supplies For Young Moms
Run a Baby Supplies Collection in your church and community during the month of April. Collect “all things baby” such as clothing, diapers, wipes, and baby food. Gather your donations at the beginning of May and deliver them to a local pregnancy crisis center or ministry for unwed or young mothers.

1. Mother’s Day Breakfast At Church
Give your women a break today. Ask for men, youth, and children to help with this event to cook, serve, hostess, set up, and clean up. Be creative to help out families so this event doesn’t become more of a chore for the moms than a normal Sunday.

Purchase or make ahead several types of muffins. Include gluten-free or dairy-free if there are known sensitivities. Set up a coffee bar with different creamers, hot chocolate, teas, and even whipped cream.

Plan ahead to have a morning of fruit, cheese, and danish charcuterie boards either before or after church service.
4. Host A Dessert Event After Service
Short service followed by dessert. Desserts such as cakes, pies, and cookies are easy to purchase in quantity. Crisps are simple and easy to make at home in large quantities.

Refreshing drinks and treats are always a nice way to celebrate. Serve your drinks from pretty pitchers or build a lemonade stand and place it in your foyer or fellowship hall.

Celebrate Mother’s Day With Music During Your Church Service
Starting after Easter or in April, pass out blank index cards to the women in your church. Ask them to write the name of a favorite hymn or worship song. Plan your Mother’s Day order of service using those songs.

- Ask an individual or small group to sing a song or two from the list.
- Schedule ahead with the children’s or youth director to rehearse and plan for the teens or children to sing, mime, or do motions for a song.

Host Special Activities For Your Church Women
Set up a table or station for women to create a DIY project either before or after you celebrate Mother’s Day service. Provide all needed materials and supplies to complete the project. Projects should be easy and able to complete within about 15 minutes. Consider offering childcare before service or after service, if needed.

- Arrange and fill a mason jar with cut flowers; decorate it with a burlap ribbon.
- Assemble a cookie mix in a mason jar; top the lid with a pretty label.

Offer to take pictures of women with their family or friends. Provide fun props for posing. For an added bonus, print out one picture for each woman, frame it, and have it available at the next church service.
Share God’s Love & Celebrate Mother’s Day
As small churches set aside this day to celebrate, remember, honor, thank, and show our love to mothers, remember to be sensitive to those who are struggling with this holiday. For some, it doesn’t bring as much joy as others.
